Federer: A Tennis Champion

I watched Roger Federer the other day in his match against Djokovic (sp) and was disappointed that Federer did not win the match. It is not my place to make suggestions to such a champion but here I go anyway. As much of a master as Federer is, I believe he needs to play in more matches and that he needs to have a coach for a while to get him back to basics. I have a friend who is a recovering alcoholic and he refuses to go to AA meetings because he believes he is too good to attend those meetings with all those "drunks." I have pointed out to my friend that those "drunks" are still sober and my friend who holds himself above them - because he is better and smarter than they are - has started drinking again. The only point I am trying to make - and doing it poorly - is that we all need to go back to basics sometime; especially when one is such a champion - the best man who has ever played tennis. I'm only asking Mr. Federer to go back to basics and to play in more tournaments. Not for the money but for the love of the sport... No man is an island and no man should be alone in such endeavors. Federer does not need "yes" men. He needs strong men or a strong coach who will say "correct" this or that. Federer has the skill, the talent, the ability...and the grace.

I love Federer. Even went so far now as to have TV access to the ATP men's matches. Saw a great documentary on Pete Sampas (sp) - good gracious. Now, if Federer would just add that drop of going for the throat with aplomb - wow!

Monte Carlo starts Monday!!!!
