Should we leave Iraq? Why?
The following is a comment from a friend/reader that was left at Iraq War. I do stand by what I said regarding the Democrats aiding and abetting the enemy but the commenter has a good point. I know that is strange coming from me but - as the war in Iraq drags on - in my opinion, there are two immutable truths about our federal government regardless of the political party since the Amnesty of 1986 (?) signed by President Reagan - in this case, he was lied as in: WE'LL ENFORCE IMMIGRATION LAWS - to as were we all lied to by McGovern and Company in 1964 - Read my lips, NO QUOTAS; and any "war" we have engaged in since World War II:
1) we have been and are being sold-out by people sworn to uphold the US Constitution and defend our nation from invasions from any entity; and 2) we have allowed ourselves to be part of "doomed to failure from the start" UN Police Actions and/or we have dealt with the UN at all when it comes to sending our troops into battle. Arguably, sending our troops into battle and "asking" permission from the UN to do that could be in violation of our US Constitution or the War Powers Act (?).Here are the words from Fred (who leaves a great link by the way):
Petraeus's letter indicates that we are going to lose this war regardless of the amount of troops or the amount of time we are there. So, since as Petraeus's letter indicates, defeat is certain, I am forced to say - Bring our Troops Home Now. If the government isn't going to let them win, then keeping them out there spilling their blood is tantamount to the Bush Administration murdering them. Please understand, I am a conservative, but after seeing all the soldiers that Bush has arrested for doing their jobs, I can't be a Bush-bot. Fight to win or don't fight at all. There is no other option. For the non-Bush-Bots out, there look at General Betrayus's record. He hasn't spent a day in battle. He is just a politician in uniform. From a returning soldier, Jonathan W. Bartlett [myspace.com/ceobartlett] who fought on the ground in Fallujah: (paraphrase, not a direct quotation)
We should pull out. The military accomplished it's mission which was to remove Saddam Hussein. We did that. No reason to have stayed after their government was set up. [I met this young man with his girl-friend at a local coffee shop. He is "drop-dead gorgeous, dark brown-black hair, dark-brown eyes, long eye-lashes, and one could imagine him striding at a good 6 ft tall, in the pride of his youth. He wants no pity for his injuries - the loss of both legs - and you really can't give him pity, only admiration; he just wants to set-up a rehabilitation physical therapy center for returning veterans (GIs) since he knows what therapy they need. I included his "myspace" account for any enterprising business mogul who wants to give him a financial start - no strings attached.]So, what do I have to say to our administration and to our military, put especially to all of our presidents since WWII - including those of the Korean Police Action as the UN slime calls it, to Vietnam, to Somalia, to Clinton's distraction from killing Christians in Serbia to helping the Muslims in Kosovo open a route for infiltration into all of Europe for illegals, to President George W. Bush:
If you won't let or refuse to let our men and women fight - the way they have been trained, with the superior weaponry and technology they have and we've paid for - then BRING THEM HOME. Let them fight to win or keep them home in the first place.I absolutely support our Military men and women; but I spit on the paper-generals and the presidents since WWII who have sent our troops into action - with or without blue helmets which for the UN should be a bright canary yellow - without the desire, the will, or the intent of WINNING. We have fought Politically Correct "wars" and we have taken in refugees whose status we may well have created just to put Americans out of work driving taxis and just to have an excuse for weakening our nation internally. You can't take a person from living in a mud hut and wiping his butt with his hand to participating in a democratic republic just by moving him into one. So, my stance on all military engagements into which our fighting men are sent: let them fight to WIN or never send them at all. Staying out is better than planned or engineered DEFEAT any time! We stayed out of Hungary - where the people looked to us for help - and have paid the moral price for decades. By leaving Iraq in what will be perceived as "defeat" no matter how we spin it, we weaken our nation and - for those worried about it - our image in the world. I see reasons for being in Iraq and for winning in Iraq. Iraq is a strategic position globally; however, Americans want to WIN or leave - no two ways about it. This "pussyfooting around", as my father would call it, is no way to treat American soldiers, Marines, air force, or navy volunteers. They deserve to be led better and they deserve to know that our presidents will not send them in unless it is to WIN. Every time our fighting forces have been sent in with the stink of the UN hanging around their mission like a black cloud, they have been seen by our enemies as "defeated". We have been engaged in Iraq longer than we were in WWII - which tells me that if we had fought WWII under the UN (I spit on the UN), we'd be speaking Japanese from the Mississippi River to California; however, there would likely be no invasion from Mexico, AND we'd be speaking German from the Mississippi to the East Coast. We, the people, need to adopt two rules that we impose upon our over-lords: 1) get out of the damnable United Nations and send them packing; and 2) send our military into battle ONLY to win. I support our troops who say we should stay in Iraq but stay only to win - decisively, clearly with no ambiguity left for either side. Let's be clear, the likes of al Qaeda respect only force of arms and decisive defeat of them. Beat the living hell out of the "insurgents" or fighters from Iran, out of al Qaeda and beat them soundly or bring our men home. Can we do that? Of course! Do we have leaders, generals, etc. with the balls to tell Congress to "pound sand" and get the job done or are we just filling the pockets of the "military-industrial" complex grand pooh-bahs? Or are our generals eunuchs - singing in falsetto? I have made no secret of my firm belief that the administration and the president and mostly all of our elected leaders have and are violating their oath of office regarding the invasion from Mexico - either annex Mexico and tell us, the American people, to shut up and take it - truthfully or stop the invasion. Either give our real generals - not the paper generals - with the authority to WIN in Iraq and "political correctness" be damned or bring our men and women home. To be clear, the Democrats are villains in this piece as well and carry shame upon themselves for voting for the war in Iraq and then betraying our President and Military every step of the way - committing treason in my mind . I can't let them off the hook either. As I have said in earlier posts - in so many words - when we leave the Iraqi men, women, and children who have had faith in us to the blood bath that will occur, it is our politicians and incompetent politically controlled generals who will wear the blood of our troops and of the civilians on their hands. Would we have been better to have left the Iraqis to be fed into Saddam Hussein's wood chippers or sent to his rape rooms? No - we took care of that but how do we forge a "democracy" out of a government voted for by the Iraqi people that instituted Shari'a Law - Islam, the Qur'an - as the law of the land? To my mind, with that vote, we should have pulled out and left the Iraqis to it. Shari'a Law is the "new communism", see Communism for the 21st Century. The Iraqis can have the Islamic Republic they voted for but we don't have to shed blood over it. Let them at it then if they threaten us, we can go in knowing what we are fighting. Back to, back to... Our leaders - all parties - will also wear the blood of innocent Americans yet to be killed or maimed by Islamic terrorists on their hands. Today, they are allowing the establishment of militant, arguably "terrorist" training camps right here in the United States - see Gates of Vienna discussions of Jamaat ul-Fugra in Virginia, Part 1 of several parts, or look up "Islamberg" in a Google search. Then ask, why are our leaders betraying us abroad and allowing alleged "terrorists" groups to set-up "terrorists-like" communes right here on our soil? Either way, we, the people, will bear the burden and the price of the incompetence of our leaders. So, to hell with political correctness here and abroad - from now on either fight to win or stay out of the games of the UN. We are, by God, no peace-keeping force. Our men and women deserve better for their training and their suffering.

Thank you for the time you took to post / comment here. I appreciate your service and your time. Thank you for the link as well. Yes, over time, things have a way of "correcting" themselves.
I would suggest everyone take a look at this site, it is a place where that active military who support the mission can tell congress about their support.

I agree with Rosecovered Glasses. At the time I enlisted, I was lucky enough to catch the tail end of the Vietnam Veterans teaching us the art of warfare and survival. They warned us of the same things and ideas. I guess history has the nasty habit of repeating itself after all. Check out the survey on my blog.
