Run-up to Elections - Slow day at the O-K Corral
Today is a slow day at the O-K Corral. Seems as though for some, myself included, this is the day before the final push of the 2006 Elections here in the United States. Candidates are entering their final push, bus stops, plane rides from one stop to another but, for me, today is like Thanksgiving or Christmas when all seems to stop. The energy in the air stops and the world seems to take a collective deep breath, sighing, garnering its resources and saying, "Today is the Lord's day." Not too many days feel like Thanksgiving or Christmas when the world seems to stop. Where I am located, the weather is beautiful, clear, sunny skies; moderate temperature - chilly but with a touch of winter-sunlight warmth, the warmth that feels good to the face but especially uplifting to the soul. I have read some of the political perspectives from various and sundry folks but right now, for this very moment, I am taking a rest. Just for today. Tomorrow is another day. Another day indeed. But today is a day such as we can be only well-rewarded for acknowledging, rewarded for saying to the energies that usually swirl and turn around us, "Yes, today is a day of rest." Be mindful of our troops and of the men and women, in uniform or not, who stand guard and keep the vigil so that we can be safe. They honor us in their devotion and dedication.
