Muslims in America vote NO on CAIR; good for them. I was going to write a post on Audrey Hudson's excellent news article, CAIR membership falls 90% since 9/11 and give special mention to M. Zuhdi Jasser, director of American Islamic Forum for Democracy but instead let me direct you to some exceptionally good posts - to follow - that cover the story quite well and add more than I ever could have. The news article notes that: "Membership in the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has declined more than 90 percent since the 2001 terrorist attacks, according to tax documents obtained by The Washington Times. The number of reported members spiraled down from more than 29,000 in 2000 to fewer than 1,700 in 2006. As a result, the Muslim rights group's annual income from dues dropped from $732,765 in 2000, when yearly dues cost $25, to $58,750 last year, when the group charged $35." We need to keep in mind that Muslims in America are not discriminated against any more or less than the rest of us for any and all kinds of reasons. I would like to believe that most Muslims in America like the freedoms they have here and like the lack of the "religious police" beating schools girls on the streets or leaving 12 schools girls to die in a school for some minor infraction of Islamist law. Keep in mind though that Saudi Arabia is funding many organizations within the US and I don't know how much, if any, Saudi money is going to fund CAIR.
