Illegal Aliens and Dual Citizenship
Well, the march toward the North American Union continues. I suspect that we Americans will not have the opportunity to vote on the North American Union and, aside from increasing what are probably hoped-for-votes to propel George P. Bush into the White House in a few years, the administraton's refusal to enforce existing laws to the fullest extent is a measure designed to make the North American Union an accomplished fact simply by the numbers of Mexican citizens who will soon be given citizenship here as well. I may be wrong on the next issue and, if I am wrong, please let me know. It is my understanding that Mexicans in America - illegals who will be awarded citizenship - will be able to have dual citizenship with Mexico as well as American citizenship. These currently "undocumented Americans" - so called by Harry Reid recently - will be able to cast votes in Mexico or through accommodation without even travelling back to Mexico be able to vote here. That dual citizenship dilutes the votes of Americans because we will only be able to influence elections in one nation. They will be able to influence elections in two nations. Hardly fair to us. And makes the North American Union more likely since those folks will be able to cast two votes while, if lucky, we will only be able to pass one. On a slightly different note, Article XIV of the US Constitution is arguably being misinterpreted. Section 1. "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." We only seem to read as far as the first part and ignore the "subject to the jurisdiction thereof..." Vicente Fox once remarked that he had 35,000,000 Mexicans in America and soon he would have millions more. People with dual citizenship or here illegally, as well as children born to people here illegally, are not solely "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States in the same way that the rest of us are. Illegals have extraordinary "rights" to seek redress in our courts, to take entire cities to court; police cannot even question their legality. I even heard Bill O'Reilly mention the other evening that part of the problem was that many Americans didn't like Mexicans and that was part of the reason for the opposition to the amnesty bill. [Look, if citizenship is the ultimate, end-game award, the bill is amnesty any way you cut it. Why are our elected "representatives" spending so much time trying to create processes for people who come here illegally to "buy" citizenship? Why aren't Mexicans staying in Mexico and working to improve the conditions in their nation? We are told they are the best and brightest? Of course, we know why so many illegals are from the Middle East. Will it take a dirty bomb being exploded in America to force our government to close our borders, to build that first mile of the border fence? How many of us will pay the cost with our lives or with being maimed for life because we are arguably being betrayed by our very own administration? Harry Truman said, "The buck stops here!" Well, there are plenty of Saudi bucks buying influence in America, Saudi Arabic Finances and Islam. Why don't we have laws that deny foreign governments or foreign citizens from financing anti-American organizations in America? Remember, this amnesty bill will give citizenship to all or most current illegals, regardless of their nation of origin. Getting here legally may take a few extra steps and a few years but then the citizenship is gained through dignity and not through criminal activity. How many of us - ordinary citizens of all ethnicities - will bear the cost in coin and lives? Over 45,000 Americans have been killed by illegals since 9/11 and over 12,000 Americans were killed last year alone by illegals through vehicular homicide and through murders. 85% of all Americans are against this amnesty bill. 85% - that would be millions of Americans - support legal immigration. How much representation do you feel you are getting and how much do you think the administration is concerned or is even listening to you? On the latter, not at all! When Ted Kennedy - the pusher of amnesty in 1986 - and a Republican president are in cahoots that does not bode well for we, the little people. And there is plenty smelly in that fish barrel. Just listening to Lindsey Graham praising Ted Kennedy. Time for Lindsey to go into retirement. Come on, South Carolina! Lindsey seems to be drinking the koolaide. They are hooting and shouting, and huffing and puffing - and when all is said and done, no border fence will be built and no illegals will be deported, and new illegals will continue to come. Maybe Mexico will relax it's ownership laws and let us buy land in Mexico before Mexico annexes the US. Well, they'll pass this amnesty bill "for the good of the country." My, my! And exactly which country would that be, hmmmm...

The U.S. State department interprets subject to the jurisdiction thereof differently than "obeying the laws".
They interpret that clause as meaning "and not having diplomatic immunity."
Congress has interpreted it the same way. Thus the child born in America to a foreign ambassador is not a citizen, but the child born in America to any other person is a citizen.
Perri, thank you. I suggest we deport "anchor babies" and their parents who are here illegally then, as Germany does, allow the child to choose citizenship when the child becomes 18 but up until that age, the child lives in the parents' home of origin, is returned with parents to keep the family together instead of our insane process of allowing the "anchor baby" to receive welfare benefits, aid to dependent children benefits, and - adding insult to injury - allowing extended family members to enter the US based on the birth of the "anchor baby" in the US.
