From the Telegraph, Hunt for 16 escaped asylum seekers. My question: Do we need to do this to ourselves? Do we need to inflict upon our citizens anymore people from a 7th Century "culture" who simply live by different standards of interpersonal relations with others and with regard to the "law"?
Superintendent Robin Rickard, of Thames Valley Police, said: "We are working with GEO to ensure everything is done, as quickly as possible, to locate the missing detainees. "However, I would ask that if members of the public see anyone acting suspiciously and believes they may have been involved in this incident; contact the police immediately." Officers are searching using dogs and a helicopter to track the escaped men.I read once that Britain and France as well, for that matter, pulled out of their respective "colonies" in Africa way too soon. Why? Because the "rule of law" and the parliamentary process of elections and generating legislation as the means to "reform", not reform at the end of a gun or the use of a machete, had not been instituted long enough to "take hold". Is that racist? I don't believe so. We see what has happened to Zimbabwe under Mugabe. Not a pretty sight by any standard with white farmers killed or forced to flee and black citizens now without jobs and starving all because of Mugabe. It is known that divergent cultures cannot occupy the same land-mass without one giving way to the other. Western civilization took centuries of evolution to reach a semblance of the "rule of secular law" and that all men are to receive "equal protection" under the law. True, we are moving away from that today in the United States with white people and white Christians being persecuted covertly or overtly but the theory holds. What are we thinking? Certainly not about our children's future - the future of American white and black children for whom so many marched - white and black side-by-side... Perhaps history is doomed to repeat itself but we don't have to help it along. Do we?
