Senate - bunch of rats - unfit to serve

Well, Senators are damned if they do and equally damned if they don't. Who exactly were the "grand bargainers"? But yesterday, America was left with its borders undefended to the extent that they should be defended by any self-respecting nation; Americans are left with laws that will continue to be uninforced by an administration and a Senate devoted to abandoning the "rule of law" for all illegals of any stripe. Filibuster spoils 'bargain' tells part of the story. Perhaps along with Cinco de Mayo, we should make May 8th a national holiday. From the news article: "Also yesterday, the Senate rejected an amendment to make the administration secure the border and prove it is enforcing laws now on the books before giving illegal aliens legal status. The amendment was defeated 54-42. Among the laws it would have required the president enforce were last year's law calling for fencing along 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border; a mid-1990s law calling for tracking of all visitors through the US-VISIT system; and following through on requiring immigrants' sponsors to make sure aliens do not become a financial burden on the nation. As he walked out of the Capitol after last night's vote, Minority Whip Trent Lott, Mississippi Republican, was critical of some in both parties, saying Mr. Reid pulled the trigger too quickly but also blaming Republicans who he said were never going to vote for a bill. Throughout the day, he had challenged senators to answer whether they were "mice or men." As he left he called out to reporters: "We are a bunch of rodents." " Several years ago, I recall Trent Lott remarking when the Republicans had lost control of the Senate to the like of Puff Daschle, that "Republicans were better at being the minority party." Maybe but those same Republicans with 11 Democrats defied the President and ended the worthless scharade of the Comprehensive Immigration Act of 2007. Here's the truth: the Department of Homeland Security is incapable of enforcing anything except the strip-searching of law-abiding Americans at airports throughout the nation. Thousands of Americans are becoming de-senitized at patting us down, sending us through metal detectors and other devices that strip us of our dignity, and searching our luggage even to unpacking suitcases and more - you know the drill. While I understand the reasons for these violations of our persons, I genuinely wonder at the potential result of having so many Americans used to and paid to herd us like cattle. Another truth: our President has no intention of enforcing our laws against illegal immigrants - deportations, etc. By way of a small analogy - if you have your local marajuana grower who also has a job, works, pays taxes, supports the church, is in the local Better Business Bureau, and supplies the locals with marajuana for twenty years. He breaks no other laws. None. A model citizen. Yet, once turned in or prosecuted, he is still engaging in criminal activity. He gets no "amnesty" for being a "good" marajuana grower. Illegal aliens of all stripes are still engaging in criminal activity. That no president has enforced our immigration laws against illegals for 40 years does not make the lack of law enforcement any less "criminal" or in violation of the president's oath of office. Disclaimer: I am not including Long-Evans rats in the definition of "rats" as Long-Evans rats are highly intelligent, unlike some members of the "greatest deliberative body on earth" who clearly have only political power in mind. I did hear Arlene Specter remark on the floor of the Senate the other day, that only dead Senators were called statemen and living Senators were called politician. He would prefer to remain a "politician". I say, he is a rat of the gutter kind, mangy and flea-ridden, not deserving of the name, Senator. But the president bought "his" man. As the administration is not going to enforce the existing laws, we as the American people are no worse for this "defeat" of this heinous bill and the lives of the illegals will go on as before with more illegals joining their ranks and with the numbers of terrorists in our midst swelling in kind. Way to go, you bunch of rodents!
