Where's the fence: S. 1348 "screws the pooch"
The Immigration Bill (S. 1348) that everyone is in a tither about - if enacted today - would not go into effect until October 1, 2008, 15 months from now, at the end of George W.'s term. Nothing would have been done and we'd have another 1,000,000,000 more aliens and untold new "anchor babies." Clearly, our national security and the vast numbers of illegal aliens is of top concern by our elected "potentates." The length of time before any action would be taken is even shorter when one considers how long any bill would be in "conference" with the House of Representatives. If you can find any words about building a fence along our southern border, please let me know. The section on securing the border reads more like a plan of the international border security concerns of Belize and Guatamala. S. 1348. There is verbiage about Border enforcement but try to find the "fence". Ending Debate: In an effort to end the debate on S. 1348, Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007, 34 Democrats voted to end debate. A group of Republicans and Democrats voted to continure debate of the bill and of the various amendments. Lindsey Gramnesty voted to continue debate but his heart beats fondly for Teddy K. these days. Of the 100 Senators, 4 did not vote. One was Senator Johnson (D-SD) who has health problems and should probably be removed from the Senate. The other three not voting are curious to say the least: Kerry (D-MA) Levin (D-MI) McCain (R-AZ), hmmmm......busy running for the republican nomination, no doubt. Message to Senator McCain - it ain't gonna happen: Campaign Finance Reform and the Amnesty Bill. The roll call vote and the results can be found at Cloture vote on S 1348. The table of contents for S. 1348 is 13 pages long. The text is 800 pages. The following is just a few lines of Sec. 131: Mandatory Detention for Aliens apprehended at or between ports of entry: ~~~~~~~~~~ SEC. 131. MANDATORY DETENTION FOR ALIENS APPREHENDED AT OR BETWEEN PORTS OF ENTRY. Wait, so by "shall be detained until removed or a final decision granting admission has been determined" they mean that they law-breakers into our country?
No Drug Dealer Left Behind!
A notice to appear? How on earth are they going to enforce that?
I wish they would enforce current laws and round up the illegals rather than find new ways to get them in- such as the superhighway and plans to let Mexican truck have free access. So much for safety and jobs! Who knows what those truck will bring??? WMDs? Terrorists? Illegals? Tainted food? Drugs?
Don't you love it? No pedophile, no drug dealer, no member of MS-13 left behind so they can behead some more folks in North Virginiastan.
Now how about that China "test run" of tainting our pets' food?
With our folks inside the Beltway, we do not need any enemies which is exactly why the Islamists are so emboldened. My guess. We are too busy having our leaders "f**k" us, no need for Islamists to do anything but wait for the last gasps. Maybe that's why CAIR's membership is so low among the 26% who think suicide bombing is okay. A great tactic especially when you don't have to use it.
