Dry up the GOP's $$$ if we are betrayed through amnesty bill
The following e-mail reached my in-box and I want to share it with you in its totality. Since many folks don't receive the e-mail, I don't believe Mr. Viguerie will object to me repeating it here. We have to hold the Republicans who vote for this amnesty bill to account and the only way it seems that they will listen is if we cut off their funds. It is my understanding that aside from their large doners, most Republicans receive most of their campaign contributions from little "contributors" such as you and me - with our little $25.00 to $50.00 dollar checks. Well, I'm paying plenty in taxes to support illegal immigrants, either border crossers or folks who over-stay their visas. I'm paying enough in taxes at the local, state, and federal level; I don't need to pay more by supporting elected officials who are ready and willing to stick the knife in my back. I can use my 25 - 50 dollars better. So, here's the e-mail. Please do your part to send a message to any Republicans who support this amnesty bill either in the House or in the Senate. Send your contributions to Republicans who hold the line for border security and the enforcement of existing laws. Remember the amnesty bill won't even go into effect until October 1, 2008, just days before the November 2008 election. The President certainly doesn't care and his family now seems in bed with the Clintons. We need to withhold contributions from the ones up for re-election and from the existing committees that Mr. Richard A. Viguerie lists in his e-mail. For myself, in terms of the committees he lists, I severed any financial relationship with them long ago and only contribute to candidates directly. From Mr. Richard A. Viguerie : ~~~~~~~~~~~ Richard A. Viguerie Contact: Vi Shields, (703) 392-7676 ConservativesBetrayed.com or (703) 906-6542 625 Surveyor Court, Suite 400 Manassas, VA 20110 FOR RELEASE: June 19, 2007 Viguerie to Conservatives: “It’s time to cut off financial support to the GOP if the Bush Amnesty Bill is passed!” “It’s time to play hardball with the GOP on amnesty!” says conservative activist Richard A. Viguerie. And “hardball” means pledging to cut off all financial support of the GOP and its fundraising committees if the Bush Amnesty Bill is passed in any shape or form. Go to www.NoBushAmnesty.com to read the Pledge. Richard A. Viguerie pioneered ideological and political direct mail and has been called “the Funding Father of the conservative movement” for his role in helping build dozens of conservative organizations. He is the author of Conservatives Betrayed: How George W. Bush and Other Big Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause (Bonus Books, 2004). In his letter to conservatives, Viguerie says “The ONLY way the Republican Party will take us seriously is if we pledge to cut off financial support and to challenge pro-amnesty Republicans with anti-amnesty primary opponents.” He will send the Pledges he receives to Senate Republican leaders like Mitch McConnell, to all the Republican fundraising committees, and to every Republican Senator. The Pledge commits the signer to cut off all financial support to the Republican National Committee, the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and “any Republican Senator or Representative who voted for the Bush Amnesty Bill.” Signers also pledge to “ask that my name, address, and phone number be removed from the mailing list and other records of all Republican fundraising organizations.” The full text of the Pledge and Viguerie’s comments are available at www.NoBushAmnesty.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'd like to include also that the Minutemen have what is called a Minuteman PAC. They support any candidate regardless of party affiliation who supports strong defense of our nation from illegal aliens.
