From Crusader Rabbit, this is not a platform for leftist tripe.
I found an interesting survey that discusses Rowling outing Dumbledore, its definitely worth a look.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the Potter books so have no idea why so much is made of them but in any case this would put me off reading them. Now Ursula K LeGuinn's Earthsea books, there's something worth reading.
ReplyDeleteThanks for comments. I suppose I have a different view on issues when it comes to literature or, in this case, story-telling as an art.
ReplyDeleteIf it does not advance the story, leave it out. At no time and in no place does Rowling portray Dumbledore as homosexual. His "sexual" preference is totally insignificant to the story. He is not hitting on the students or the faculty or the animals for that matter. Actually, for my part, Rowling's "outing" of Dumbledore now - after the billions have been made and the story is at an end - is way beneath her and the good her series has done for our youth. Setting the witchcraft aside which is found in the Chronicles of Nardia as well as in The Lord of the Rings and is a well-tried method to advance good over evil, Rowling's work has help an entire generation of our youth to learn to read and to enjoy reading - independent of the public schools generally to have our kids march lock-step into socialist ideology and the grandeur of multiculturalism and "moral" equivalency.
I'll check out the links. Thanks.
It could have been much worse, she could have made Dumbledore a "conservative," and the whole world would have went to hell.
