Our representative republic based on our U.S. Constitution has many wolves slashing at our heels and hearts. Enemies within and enemies without; we must take them at their word, even as they dissemble at every turn to advance their cause to destroy our way of life and end our freedoms.

Beach Girl - Bashing a real threat like Global Warming because of your dislike for Barbara Boxer is misdirected mischief. If you have credible scientific evidence that global warming is not real, please post it. Or did you mean your post as a joke - as in "don't push the babies out with the bad weather?" - One Concerned About the Planet's Health.
ReplyDeleteBarbara Boxer in charge of anything is a joke.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's odd. Last I heard scientists were pretty much split over the whole 'global warming' hypotheses. In fact, as I understand it, most of the non-politically connected scientists state that it is a bunch of hooey.
ReplyDeleteShow me proof that global warming is valid, AND that it is abnormal, since as I recall from high school the earth has gone through various periods of extreme temperature fluctuations. Anyone recall that there have been multiple ice ages?
In other news, Ms Boxer being in charge of anything more important than pet sitting a plastic goldfish, makes me kind of uncomfortable.
The fact that you abhor Barbara Boxer does not alter the fact that the Earth's climate is getting warmer. Note that I have not said, or even implied, that people are responsbile. But the change in temperature is measuable, and the results are clearly evident in the Earth's arctic regions.

ReplyDeleteHere's the real crux of the matter. Global warming is a theory, nothing more, nothing less. So far, no incontrovertible evidence exists of its being more than a theory. Further, even less proof exists of its being the result of man-made activities--let alone activities in civilized nations like America, which clean up their mess.
So, to imply that unless you espouse the Global Warming "faith" you are not "One Concerned About the Planet's Health" is fallacious on a number of levels.
Worse yet, the global warming issue is being used by some public officials (Boxer in question being one) as a political club with which to beat into alignment those of a different view. This is why for many of us, global warming is more of a political threat than an environmental one.
The moment that:
1) We see solid evidence that America's way of life is directly causing the Earth's climate to change;
2) We see solid efforts by the various Kofi Annans to go after nations that REALLY pollute (India, anyone) following the good old 80/20 rule;
3) Politicians stop using this issue to demonize those who don't see points 1 and 2...
Many of us have no choice but drawing the rational conclusion that global warming is nothing but an exaggerated scare-tactic to advance the left's agenda.
Having said this, I applaud your civic conscience and give you kudos for caring about the environment. Believe it or not, most of us on the right do too. Only, we disagree on the priorities and the science behind some of the findings.
